Mariam Zaveri, RP
Registered Psychotherapist
As a Registered Psychotherapist (RP) licensed with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO), and a member of the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) in good standing, I am committed to guiding individuals through life’s complexities with compassion and expertise. With a profound dedication to my clients’ well-being, I offer specialized counselling and psychological services tailored to their unique needs (to nurture mind, body and soul).
My passion for child psychology and empathetic approach to therapeutic relationships with families have shaped my journey towards counselling and psychotherapy. I am deeply committed to helping individuals cope with life’s adversities, guiding them away from destructive thought patterns towards rejuvenation and resilience.
Within the therapeutic space I provide, you will find a safe haven to explore your symptoms and emotions. Recognizing your inherent potential, I aim to empower you to break free from negative cycles and embrace a healthier, more fulfilling life. My practice encompasses an integrated intervention approach, drawing from Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotional Focus Therapy (EFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), among others. Additionally, I have certification of CC-EMDR for trauma care, Inner child work, and internal family system.
My journey to Canada as an immigrant in my teen years, arriving alone, imbued me with resilience and determination. Pursuing education and life experiences, I achieved various milestones successfully along the way. This personal journey deeply influenced my understanding of cultural diversity, adaptation, and the human experience, enriching my ability to connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Beyond my professional endeavors, I am an active member of the Ismaili community, finding joy in playing in Ismaili Women’s Throw ball Sports Team as well as being part of the Southwest Ontario Bagpipes band. Additionally, I contribute my time and skills to volunteer work within the community, further enriching my commitment to holistic well-being and community support. I feel honored for having been recently nominated to receive a 15-year service recognition award by the Ontario Ministry of Citizenship and Multiculturalism for my dedication and volunteer work with the Ismaili Council for Southwest Ontario – Aga Khan Health Board.
In addition to professional life and community work, my journey in marriage has taught me lessons to over come challenges for effective partnership. Having raised my own children along with working with adolescents and youths within the various school settings, have provided me with a profound understanding of children’s developmental milestones and the challenges that are currently faced by youths and young adults. Additionally, my experience working with the school board population has given me valuable insights into supporting neurodivergent youth with conditions such as ADHD, learning disabilities, and ASD. This combination of personal and professional experiences uniquely equips me to provide comprehensive support and guidance to individuals and families navigating life’s challenges and milestones.
In my practice, I firmly believe in the transformative power of personal choice and holistic wellness. As your personal counselor, I will walk alongside you on your journey towards well-being, empowering you to make conscious decisions that nurture your mind, body, and soul. Together, we will navigate life’s challenges and work towards achieving your goals.
