Frequently Asked Questions

Is this an OHIP walk-in clinic?

YES!  Bring your OHIP card into Emkiro’s Appletree Medical Clinic and see a doctor on site or via telemedicine video conferencing! This revolutionary method of healthcare delivery improves access to health care services.  Check the wait timer (70 University ) to see updated schedules and wait-times.

What Is A Telemedicine Walk-in Medical Visit?

Telemedicine connects you, through video, to a doctor in real time, improving community access to health care. You will be able to see, hear, and talk to a doctor, just as you would at a normal visit.

How Does A Telemedicine Walk-in Medical Visit Work?

A telemedicine walk-in visit is just like a regular walk-in visit with a doctor, only the doctor you will be seeing and speaking with is on a monitor. When you arrive in the clinic, please register at the Appltree self registration kiosk. If you are an Ontario patient, you will be required to present your OHIP card at every visit. When it’s your turn, you will be greeted by a Telemedicine Assistant, and brought to an exam room. Appletree Telemedicine Assistants are trained to prepare you, to present your medical history to the doctor, and to assist you during the visit. The Telemedicine Assistant will ask you for the purpose of your visit, in order to prepare you for the doctor. You will also be asked for a list of your current medications. (Please bring this list with you to every visit. If you do not have a list, your pharmacist may be able to provide this to you.) The Telemedicine Assistant will remain with you during your visit. The videoconference connection is made with the doctor at another location, and the visit begins.

Is There A Cost For A Telemedicine Walk-in Medical Appointment?

You will not be billed for a walk-in appointment if you are covered under the Ontario Health Insurance Plan (OHIP). If you do not have OHIP, the cost is $75. The visit is then covered by most private benefit plans.

Is a Telemedicine Walk-in Medical Appointment Private and Confidential?

Just like a regular doctor’s appointment, your telemedicine visit will be private and confidential. It can only be seen and heard by the health care professionals involved.

How long do I have to wait for a Telemedicine Walk-in Appointment?

You can see a walk-in doctor quickly at the Emkiro Appletree location at 70 University Avenue. We offer open office hours where physicians will see you without an appointment.

Please use the walk-in wait timer tool here to see expected walk-in wait times – wait times are updated every 30 minutes. You can also download the Appletree wait timer App on your iPhone or Android smartphone.
