Doug Cook, RD


Doug is an Integrative & Functional Nutritionist and Registered Dietitian with almost 20 years of counselling experience in medical nutrition therapy with an interest and passion in functional digestive health issues such as IBS, dyspepsia/GERD, as well as, celiac disease and IBD [Crohn’s & colitis] and more.

He has worked as a clinical dietitian at St Michael’s Hospital, St Joseph’s Health Centre, and the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health.

He also has experience in, diabetes, lipids [cholesterol/triglycerides], kidney disease, heart health, mental health, addictions and more including the responsible use of nutritional supplements where indicated.

He is also the co-author, contributing author and nutrition reviwer/editor of 10 books on several health and recipe books including Nutrition for Canadians for Dummies (Wiley,  2008), The Complete Leaky Gut Health & Diet Book (Robert Rose, 2015), & 175 Best Superfood Blender Recipes (Robert Rose 2017).

He also has extensive experience in writing for the public, patients and professionals including newspaper columns, magazines and professional publications, as well as, presentations & workshops which have allowed him to hone his communication skills. This enables him to put the science of nutrition into everyday language so he can provide patients/clients with easy-to-understand, actionable tips and advice in order to improve their health.

Doug is in good standing with the College of Dietitians of Ontario.
